Board Members

President  -  Johane Fanfan

Johane is the co-founder of Boston Mothers Care which was established to help families after the earthquake in 2010.  Johane is also the CEO of Cleaning Bee LLC company and HR Coordinator for Kindred.  For the past 7 years,  Johane has worked with different organization to support the families in Colminy, Haiti.  Her passion is to help the women and children.


Vice President -  Inés Palmarin

Ines is the co-founder of two non-profit organizations, Gathering of  Hearts and Boston Mothers Care. Both were established to  help families in need, with a focus on women and children.   Inés worked as a Senior Planner II at the Boston Redevelopment  Authority where she  co-directed the Fairmount Corridor Planning Initiative.  For the past 12 years Ines had worked on numerous planning initiatives.  She managed  the  Christian Science Plaza Revitalization Project,  Centre/ South Street Streetscape and Transportation Action Plan, the Dorchester Avenue Action Plan, the Roxbury Strategic Master Plan Oversight Committee and the Jackson Square Planning Initiative.  Prior to this position, Inés worked as a Program Coordinator at the Jobs and Community Services division of the BRA on a grant from the Department of Labor, targeting English as a Second Language dislocated workers in Boston.  Prior to working with the City Inés was a Housing Advocate for the Elderly, a Social Worker for the Cambridge Department of Social Services and a youth worker in East Boston, Mission Hill, and Mattapan.  Inés is a graduate of Wheelock College where she majored in Human Development with a concentration in Elementary Education, and minored in Urban Studies.

Today, Inés Palmarin, our Program Officer for Resilient Communities/Resilient Families, was named by El Planeta as one of the 100 most influential people for Latinos in Massachusetts! We couldn’t agree more. An MIT-trained city planner, Inés has developed close connections with neighborhood organizations and community leaders across the state, including in her hometown of Mattapan and all along the Fairmount Indigo Corridor.  She is superb at bringing people together to identify and achieve common goals, and we are proud of her accomplishments. Keep an eye on this rising star as she works on new arts and health initiatives in Boston’s neighborhoods this year and beyond.

Treasurer -  Joanne Freeman Fanfan

Joanne Freeman is working for the Department of Public Safety –  She is involved in so a reading a book club that her friends support to bring scholarships to the young students in the community.  Joanne loves Zumba and Kickboxing.
Clerk – Inez Foster
Inez is a grants management and community development  professional, currently working in the Mayor’s Office of Intergovernmental Relations at the City of Boston. In her former role as owner of Write Direction  Consulting, she developed program objectives, operating guidelines and outcomes measurements for place-based funding initiatives. Her professional background also includes financial management and contract compliance. She has worked in insurance, human resources counseling, workforce development planning, and community organizing.
Inez holds a BS in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, a Masters in Public Administration from Suffolk University, and has done postgraduate studies at Tufts and MIT. She volunteers with a number of community-based organizations


Director of  Partnerships - Rogette Esteve

Rogette is a daughter of Haitian immigrants, she is currently a medical student at The Ohio State University.  She is passionate about global health and is looking forward to expanding BMC’s impact in this area.


Director of Communications - Fabienne Eliacin

Fabienne is a highly accomplished individual with a BS in Business Management and Hospitality, with years of  experience in the hotel industry, client relationship  building, project management, and nonprofit  outreach  campaigns.   She is  the Environment Services  Coordinator at  the InterContinental Boston. Fabienne has been a DSNI leader for 9 years, serving on the Board of Directors, Sustainable Development Committee, Education Committee, and the School Readiness Roundtable. She also participates in Fair Chance for Family Success and farms in the community gardens on the Dudley Neighbors’ Inc community land trust. She has been a key parent voice in the implementation of the Boston Promise Initiative, a strategy to improve neighborhood educational outcomes by strengthening the health of the community as a whole. Fabienne regularly brings delegations of parents to Boston Public Schools meetings to raise awareness about the needs of young children, especially those with learning disabilities. Outside of DSNI, she volunteers for St. Stephen’s Church, Union Capital Boston,

As co-chair of the Sustainable Development Committee (SDC), Fabienne co-leads a team of about 20 residents who collectively influence the quality and affordability of  new construction in Dudley. They monitor projects for their impact on surrounding neighbors, and reach out directly to developers or city officials when they have concerns. This means that Fabienne often serves as an intermediary between those decision-makers and the community, either through one-on-one meetings with developers or by facilitating public meetings of 75 or more attendees

Colminy Director - Lophane Laurent






Lophane is the Supervisor at Lutheran Church Charities.  He is a  great advocate for family needs and education.  He is the direct  person to advocate for Colminy in Haiti.
